Water Removal
Almost always, home insurance carriers cover initial drying
costs without requiring the homeowner to call around for
multiple estimates. They understand that a quick response
and efficient drying greatly reduce later restoration and
replacement costs. Call a plumber, your city’s sewer
department, or any professional who can stop the water leak.
Be prepared to answer some basic questions when you make
the initial call to Sparkkles. We’ll ask for your name,
address, and phone number. If the location is difficult to
locate, feel free to offer advice about nearby landmarks,
buildings, etc. We will also ask some questions about the
nature of the flood. A technician will need to know how it
started, whether or not there is standing water, and how
long it could have been sitting before discovery. Also let
us know if you have any special concerns about the flooded
area. If your house has no grounded (three prong) electrical
outlets, or if power has been temporarily turned off, we
need to know.
Upon arrival, a flood technician will have some paperwork
for you to read, sign and date. He will assess the damage
done and, if necessary, begin extraction. In most floods,
wet carpet padding must be removed afterwards. More than
likely, some drying equipment will have to be left running
over a period of one to several days in order to speed drying.
Our technicians
will use their own judgement based on experience to decide
where and how this equipment should be placed.
We will need to check daily to see how the drying has progressed
and, if concerns arise, add or remove drying equipment. If
you will not be available during normal business hours, consider
leaving a key in a hidden location.
After damaged areas have been completely dried, restoration
begins.
