Gypsum board, often known as drywall or a common trade
name “SheetRock,” is the main component
of a home’s walls. Drywall acts like a sponge
when wet, soaking water as long as there is a supply.
In as little as an hour, moisture levels in drywall
can climb well above 15% over a height of four inches.
A technician removes baseboards in areas affected by
water. So baseboards can be replaced easily and repair
costs kept to a minimum, the awl-sized holes are kept
at a height of around two inches. Holes are punched only
every 14”-16”(at least one hole between every
stud). Injector heads connected to a system of hoses
are pushed into the holes; air is forced through the
hoses. Increased airflow into and between walls speeds
drying significantly. |
